Core Values are an important part of any organization. If you look at companies who are thriving, you have to examine their Core Values or Philosophy of Ministry to locate some of their secrets to success.
For instance, check out Chick-fil-A's Philosophy of ministry: For the past 66 years, we have built a foundational commitment to service – service to our customers, service to our franchised Restaurant Operators and their Team Members, and service to our communities. This begins in the restaurant – one customer at a time. We firmly believe in treating every person who comes through our doors with honor, dignity, and respect. We teach it to everyone who comes to work at Chick-fil-A, and it’s something that they take with them throughout their careers – whether they choose to stay with Chick-fil-A or go on to other promising careers. But to us, service goes beyond our restaurant doors. We serve our communities through volunteerism and giving. We also make a commitment to take care of the people who take care of our communities. For example, by giving sandwiches to first responders in times of crisis, we honor the commitment they make to serve all of us. And our philanthropic giving reinforces that commitment to service by helping children and families in need. This is what makes us who we are.
The Chick-fil-A Corporate Purpose is: “To glorify God by being a faithful steward of all that is entrusted to us and to have a positive influence on all who come into contact with Chick-fil-A.”
“Nearly every moment of every day we have the opportunity to give something to someone else – our time, our love, our resources. I have always found more joy in giving when I did not expect anything in return.” - Truett Cathy
I can't help but think about our own Core Values/Philosophy of Ministry at StoneBridge Baptist Church. So, I examined our Core Values again and this is what I came up with for this entry.
We believe the gospel of Jesus Christ is the power of God unto salvation, therefore, we will share God’s love through our deeds and our words; building genuine friendships based on the foundations of honesty and trust. We recognize that the things we celebrate become who we are in the future. We understand that we cannot out-give God, therefore we will be generous with our time, talents, and resources; knowing that we are ultimately accountable to God and to one another. Through hard work, prayer, and a commitment to people, we will multiply our church in three specific areas: Life Transformation Groups, Small Groups, and ultimately, through planting new churches around the world.
My passion for Jesus and His local church has only heightened in the past couple of months. I am excited to see our church embrace these values and impact the Next Generation of Christ Followers!
If you have yet to return your pledge, please do so by February 14, 2014. I am looking forward to raising the financial support needed to get us to the next phase of ministry in Morgantown, West Virginia!
